Now this place is exceptional. True south China cuisine. The customers were mostly chinese, speaking in their mother tongue (Mandarin). A lot to eat, unexpensive, tasty. Be careful with the spicy food, it is really spicy. If you prefer mild food, go for bao-tze (steamed dumplings) and Gong Bao (chicken with peanuts). Don't forget to add a bowl of white rice at 2€ to your order. The service is caring but little can they speak English or even French. Orders are typically placed by smart phone with QR code. Enjoy!

I strongly advise going with a Chinese person as the menu has an entire page written only in Chinese of delicious things. Our group of 6 was able to try many dishes. Everything was fantastic: Cold noodles, tiger salad, chicken gizzard served in clay pot, twice-cooked pork belly with preserved (century) duck egg, pork ribs with yam and sticky rice, water-cooked beef. I especially loved their chongqing lazi chicken, perfectly crispy with peanuts. Already planning my next visit there! Contrary to other's reviews, we found the manager and staff to be kind. They were super busy though and it would make a big difference if they have one more server. But if you can be patient you will definitely enjoy the food!

李子坝梁山鸡(老店)ChongQing Chicken Pot stands as a rare gem in Paris, delivering the authentic flavors of Chongqing, deep in the heart of Sichuan cuisine. Nestled at 26 Rue Richer, this Chinese restaurant offers an immersive culinary journey that honors traditional Chinese cooking with a strong focus on bold and spicy notes, perfected over generations.

Among the highlights, the 鸡杂 (chicken giblets) served in a clay pot stands out for its rich texture and depth, a dish that truly embodies Chongqing's robust flavor profile. Equally remarkable is the Sichuan Boiled Beef Artery, a dish not often found beyond native tables, showcasing tender beef with an addictive numbing spiciness thanks to Sichuan peppercorns. The 自贡鲜椒兔 (Zigong fresh chili rabbit) offers a fiery yet balanced taste that challenges even spice enthusiasts, revealing layers of complexity in every bite.

The 干煸藕丝 (dry-fried lotus root shreds) deliver a perfect textural contrast, crispy and fragrant, balancing the heavier, spice-forward dishes. The 麻辣牛肉 (mala beef) captures the essence of "ma" (numbing) and "la" (spicy) sensations, a signature of this region's cuisine. For those seeking variety, the selection of 涮菜 (hotpot vegetables) provides refreshing accompaniments that cleanse the palate between spicy servings.

The classic Mapo Tofu here is a revelation—silky tofu cubes swimming in a bright red, chili-laden sauce that’s aromatic and fiery yet harmonious. It’s a dish that perfectly illustrates the power of simple ingredients elevated through technique and attention to seasoning.

What truly enhances the dining experience at 李子坝梁山鸡(老店)is the atmosphere filled largely with Mandarin-speaking locals. This signals genuine authenticity rarely found in European Chinese eateries. Though the staff’s limited English and French can challenge ordering, the use of QR codes for menu access helps bridge the gap, and the service, though busy, remains warmly attentive.

Prices are affordable, making it accessible for those seeking a true taste of South China's culinary heritage without the tourist markup. A humble bowl of white rice (€2) is essential to temper the heat and harmonize the bold flavors.

In sum, 李子坝梁山鸡(老店)ChongQing Chicken Pot is a culinary sanctuary where tradition meets intensity. For lovers of Sichuan spice, rich textures, and deeply authentic dishes, this spot not only satisfies but leaves a lasting impression—one you’ll eagerly revisit. Whether it’s the crispy chili chicken or the myriad of regional delicacies hidden amid the Chinese-only pages of the menu, every dish is a testament to the vibrant food culture of Chongqing.
